Century West Project Wins Engineering Excellence Award

The Port of Portland’s Terminal 4 – Sustainable Stormwater Streets project was recognized at this month’s 2018 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Oregon Engineering Excellence Awards. Century West attended the dinner with the rest of the project team, including GeoEngineers, David Evans and Associates, and the Port of Portland. Century West provided an alternatives analysis for the Marine Terminal 4 entrance road and portions of the internal road network to identify the preferred rehabilitation method for the aging roadways. Happy New Year! 2017 was a busy year for Century West, allowing us to hire over 15 people. Meet 3 of our newest additions!

Melanie Johansen, PE – Puget Sound Project Manager

Melanie Johansen, PE, Project Manager – Bothell Office

Melanie has over 10 years of civil engineering experience and will be responsible for supporting and growing our services throughout western Washington. Century West is expanding our Puget Sound office capacity and capabilities, her addition to the team will continue the success of our operations. Melanie was born and raised in Michigan, but has made the Seattle area her home for the past 10 years. In her spare time she enjoys dancing, baking, and spending time outdoors hiking and camping.

 

 

 

 

Joseph Jenkins, PE – Portland Project Engineer

Joseph Jenkins, PE, Project Engineer – Portland Office

Joseph has over 8 years of civil engineering experience in projects ranging from transportation work for cities, counties, and DOTs, to private development and stormwater management facilities. Joseph grew up in the Portland-Metro area, and obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Washington and Portland State University, respectively.  In his free time, Joseph enjoys running and weight lifting; house and yard projects with his husband; tending to his chickens; and being of service to his cats.

 

 

 

Robert Bielaski, PE – Spokane Project Manager

Robert Bielaski, PE, Project Manager – Spokane Office

Rob has over 14 years design experience with projects ranging from transportation and stormwater facilities for municipal clients, to residential and commercial projects for private development clients. In his role as Project Manager, he will be responsible for civil design, project management and business development efforts. Rob recently moved to Spokane from Chicago, IL.  He and his family enjoy biking, hiking, camping, and whitewater rafting.

Century West Awarded Consultant of the Year!

Century West was awarded “2017 Consultant of the Year” by the Oregon Airport Management Association (OAMA)! The recognition was for our “outstanding level of service provided to the Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) during a major construction project”.

Alan Alexander, OAMA Executive Director, presented the award to Century West President Joe Roshak at the 2017 Fall OAMA Conference.

RDM’s Airport Director Zach Bass also received recognition for the Redmond Airport Runway 4-22 Project and was awarded OAMA’s “Airport Manager of the Year”.

Project Manager Don Barclay Joins Century West

Century West is pleased to welcome Don Barclay to our Puget Sound office. In his role as Project Manager, Don will be responsible for supporting and growing our aviation discipline throughout Washington. Century West is expanding our Puget Sound office capacity and capabilities and the addition of Don will continue the success of our operations.

Don has over 28 years of civil engineering experience focusing on airport improvements across the Pacific Northwest. Don is a lifelong Seattleite, born and raised in the metro area and a graduate of the University of Washington. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling, fly fishing, woodworking and taking family road trips.

Century West Observes General Aviation Appreciation Month

Washington State Gov. Jay Inslee declared June as General Aviation (GA) Appreciation Month. The declaration brings recognition to the important role GA’s play in the State of Washington.

Century West partners with a number of large and small GA airports throughout the Northwest. We recognize the importance of aviation’s role in the transportation network of many communities and the link to the economic vitality of a region. We are honored to serve as the airport engineer/planner for these airports and for helping to improve airport facilities, services and safety. We tip our hat to our aviation clients…great job!

Century West Trail Project Introduced at Historic Neighbor Day Event

Century West was onsite at Felts Field’s 2017 Neighbor Day Open House to represent the Millwood Trail project. Senior Project Manager Christine Fueston joined ALTA Planning + Design to answer questions at the first public open house for the project. The 2-mile pedestrian and bike pathway will open up views of the adjacent Spokane River that most people have never seen and provide new points for access to the nearby river bank. Century West is providing civil engineering and environmental services for the multipurpose trail.

Welcome Project Engineer Brett Holt to Century West’s Spokane Office

Brett Holt was hired on as Project Engineer for our Spokane and Coeur d'Alene offices.

Century West is pleased to announce the addition of Brett Holt to our Spokane office. In his role as Project Engineer, Brett will be responsible for design, planning and construction inspection for our aviation projects in the Inland Northwest region. He will be instrumental in servicing clients from our Spokane and Coeur d’Alene offices.

Brett has over 5 years of civil engineering experience. His projects have ranged from large commercial airports, including Kansas City International Airport and Dallas Love Field, to numerous general aviation airports. Brett moved to Spokane from the Midwest and is settling in well with his wife and three Huskies. He is looking forward to snowboarding and hiking in the Pacific Northwest.

Century West Airport Project Wins Best in Category DJC Top Project Award

Century West took home a 1st Place Award at DJC Top Projects last night. The event is one of the Pacific Northwest’s most popular building industry events. Our Redmond Municipal Airport Runway 4-22 Rehabilitation project was voted the best in the Infrastructure category by a panel of industry peers. This award marks the 6th award for the project.

Century West Welcomes Project Manager Pete Murphy to Portland Office

Pete Murphy recently joined Century West's Portland office bringing additional depth to their growing aviation discipline.

Pete Murphy recently joined Century West’s Portland office bringing additional depth to their growing aviation discipline.

Century West is pleased to announce the addition of Pete Murphy to our Portland office. Pete will be instrumental in supporting and growing our aviation discipline in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Pete brings over 20 years of experience providing a wide range of civil engineering consulting services to public and private clients on airport projects.  In addition to his experience in Oregon, Pete has performed aviation work in Florida, Washington, Idaho, Alaska and California.

Pete moved to Portland 15 years ago from the east coast and is happy to be back in Portland after a brief time in Minot, North Dakota working in the City’s Engineering Department.
