Bowers Field, Airport Needs Assessment & Airport Layout Plan Update

Kittitas County, Washington

Century West conducted a comprehensive facility needs assessment and airport layout plan update to supplement the 2004 airport master plan. The primary issues addressed in the study involved re-examination of master plan recommendations for the primary and secondary runways and various landside facilities. The study also provided updated aviation activity forecasts (2010-2030) and updated definitions for facility requirements. The analyses were used to replace/refine master plan recommended development options based on current conditions and needs. In addition, a complete re-draw of the airport layout plan (ALP) drawing set was included in the project. The potential impact of existing and proposed wind turbine projects in the vicinity of the airport was also evaluated to address concerns about existing instrument approach procedures and VFR traffic patterns.
