Century West provided design and funding assistance services for a new wastewater treatment facility in the City of Airway Heights. The treatment process is an extended aeration activated sludge system with biological nitrogen and phosphorus removal. Final treatment includes membrane filtration to meet Class A reclaimed water study areas. The treatment plant provides reclaimed water to customers and for recharging groundwater. Services provided included complete design; coordinating with the City, Department of Ecology (DOE), and Department of Health (DOH); establishing design criteria, obtaining permits, and completing environmental documentation.

The project received DOE/DOH approval. Century West assisted the City in obtaining the necessary funding of approximately $42 million to construct the facilities. Funding for the project included grants and loans from Washington DOE, Centennial Clearwater, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, USDA Rural Development, Public Works Trust Fund, and legislative appropriation.
